Installation

1. Download the latest release
2. Open the .dmg and move FanControl.app to /Applications
3. On first launch macOS shows a system alert. Choose “Open”

Fan speed does not change

The privileged helper that controls the fans needs permission to run in the background

If you missed the alert, go to System Settings > General > Login Items > Allow in Background, find FanControl, and turn the toggle on

Return to the app and fan speed control will work

“FanControl” Not Opened alert

Older versions can trigger this alert: Apple could not verify “FanControl” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy

You can open the app through Privacy & Security settings, but updating manually to version 1.2.6 or later is the better fix
