Quick start

Installation

  1. Download the latest release
  2. Open the .dmg file and move FanControl.app to /Applications
  3. When you open the app for the first time, you will see an alert. Choose “Open”

Fan speed doesn’t change

The privileged helper responsible for controlling the fans requires permission to run in the background

If you missed the alert, go to System Settings > General > Login Items > Allow in Background, locate FanControl, and turn on the toggle

After that, return to the app and it will be able to change the fan speed without any issues

“FanControl” Not Opened alert

On older versions, you might see this alert message: Apple could not verify “FanControl” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy

You can still open the app through Privacy & Security settings, but the better option is to update manually to version 1.2.6 or later
